It wimped out

The big storm we were supposed to get amounted to not much of anything. I suppose we got a good foot of snow but it blew around so much that our yard was almost bare while some places were drifted in. It certainly wasn't anything like this storm from last spring.

Derick got up early and plowed our driveway, then plowed our road out to the main highway, which had already been plowed by the big trucks. This was just so we could get to church. I was so impressed! And then I had to laugh. It just struck me as funny and I realized this is everything I have ever wanted. Getting up early to plow the road with your ATV so you can get to church? Classic country living. You gotta love it!

As it were, Sunday School was cancelled, which unfortunately means a lot of our families won't come to church either. Our church seems to have a history of placing a larger emphasis on Sunday School than on worship, but that's for another post. There were about 25 people at worship, when on a typical Sunday we have closer to 100. It was one of those things that someday my kids will say, "Hey, do you remember when we got that big snowstorm and we were the only ones who showed up for church?"

Now we are in the bullseye for another big one. They are predicting 12-20 inches between Wednesday and Friday and this time they seem to be more sure of themselves. Not a lot of "If... then..." this time around. We'll see what happens. It's actually nice to finally be getting some snow after a very dry winter. The boys have been on their snowboards every spare minute this week! I will try to post pictures sometime soon.

We are in the midst of spring preparations around here. Derick placed our seed order yesterday and Samantha and I figured out what birds we are going to order. I have a running list in my head of all the jobs coming up- manure for the rhubard, bleach out the chicken coop, weed and mulch the front flower bed. The list goes on and I can't wait. There's nothing quite like the smell of the earth in the springtime!

Hey- I only have 9 more classes to teach at my "other" job! Wahoo!! Derick has a second interview for that job here in town and then he applied for two more jobs at his current work, both of which would mean a promotion. I know something better is out there waiting for us- I just know it!! The hard part is waiting for it.

Have a great night everyone!!

Sounds like you guys are enjoying your winter weather! Ed would have loved an excuse to buy a plow or tractor type thing -- the ultimate boy toy. Is this a Sunday School that is for adults as well as children? It is nice that people are so enthusiastic about Bible study, anyway. We went to a church for a while after we moved here that occasionally had a Morningsong service with no communion on Sunday, even when the Rector was there, and once we figured it out we skipped those Sundays.
I hope that the Perfect Job is just around the corner for Derrick! He must be getting a bit tired of interviews & all.
