Pretty boring Friday

I am cautiously optimistic about Derick's job interview. It sounds like it went well. The bigwig said, "Well, you've got me convinced." But he has to have another interview with the other bigwig next week sometime. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Unfortunately, I am not very good at that!

The job itself looks like a good one- something he would enjoy. He had to put a salary range on his application and what he put was more than what I would have put if it was me applying for the job. So I guess that's a good thing- they know how much he wants to make and they are still interested. That's the one thing about job interviews that drives me nuts. If it were up to me, all the cards would be on the table at the first meeting. This is what we'll pay- these are the hours, these will be your duties, do you want the job under these conditions- we'll call you if we want you. End of story. But instead, it can be such a long, drawn out process with second and even third interviews. Then they don't tell you about salary or benefits or exact hours until they offer you the position. It seems like a big game to me. Just give me the facts and be done with it! It's too bad the world doesn't work according to my rules, isn't it? ;)

Anna was a very happy baby today which is a nice change. Since she was sick last week, she got in the habit of being held all the time and so lately has not wanted to be put down for anything. Today she finally seemed to be more content just playing and jabbering to herself. It was a nice break for me. She still is not crawling although she tries with all her might to get up on her knees. This is different for me since all of my other kids were crawling by this time and walked very soon after. Anna is almost 9 months and when Samantha was 9 months she was pulling herself up on furniture. I know, I know- I shouldn't compare! Anna manages to scoot around on her bottom and stretches out with quite a reach to get to the toys she wants. She'll probably end up being a gymnast with the way she can stretch herself out! Her personality is really coming out lately- she has a great giggle and just lights up when the big kids come in the room. I love that! She waves hello and does "so big", plays peek a boo and loves to look at books. It is so fun having a baby in the house again!

Not much else happened today. The kids and I rented some movies for the weekend and watched "Herbie--Fully Loaded" tonight. It was very cute and very wholesome. A good family movie. Samantha kept telling me how much she loves Lindsay Lohan. She loved her in The Parent Trap and can never quite understand how one person played both parts. Now after seeing her in Herbie, she has all of a sudden become Ms. Lohan's biggest fan. Luckily for me, she has no knowledge of the secret life of celebrities as of yet, so I just kept my mouth shut about the whole rehab thing. Some things are just not appropriate for an eight year old.

Derick is helping my sister and her family move tomorrow. I will be on housecleaning duty with the kids. It is so rare for me to have a whole day at home that I am actually looking forward to it. I hope I can get a few things checked off my to-do list.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I hope you had a nice, restful day, and that Derrick got the job! I don't like all that shilly-shallying around about job pay and benefits either. It will be lovely, though, if they want Derrick And want to pay what he'd like to get. I guess it is better to ask too much, and then they can offer less, rather than suggesting a modest salary and learning later that they'd have paid more!
