Hmmm... I sense a pattern here

It seems that I have been making a habit of having short-lived bursts of blogging activity and then suddenly vanishing off the face of the earth. I am sorry! I know there are just thousands of you devoted fans who check here every day for an update and go away disappointed. ;) I don't have any excuses. Life is what it is.

For us, life is extremely busy. It seems as though every weekend this month we have attended some sort of social event that does not fall under the category of "easily finagled out of". Mostly family events with some friend get-togethers thrown in. Weekdays have been similarly social and we have been falling into bed exhausted at the end of the day.

Speaking of bedtime- that is another very good reason for my lack of blogging. I seem to have a baby who will not sleep for more than 45 minutes unless she has a warm body to cozy up to. This means that I am required to lay next to her, which in and of itself is not a problem. The problem is that within minutes I am then visited by the sandman myself. Until someone can figure out a way to prop my eyelids open and force feed me caffeine, the blogging will have to wait. ;)

Derick still has not heard if he got that job or not. To say that we are frustrated is an understatement. We were supposed to hear something by the end of last week. On Monday of this week she called to reassure us that they were still working on it and we should hear by Wednesday. Wednesday came and went with nothing so on Thursday he called her and she said that they had narrowed it down to two candidates, one of which is Derick, and they were going to try and hash it out "by the end of the week". This would mean the next day, right? I thought Friday was the end of the week, but maybe I was mistaken because Friday also came and went without a word. We are hoping for Monday. (actually, we were hoping for Wednesday, as it was Derick's birthday and getting a new job would have been a great birthday present!) The only redeeming thing about the situation is that the HR lady is actually a friend of ours (we had no idea this was where she worked) and so we know she is as frustrated with the lack of decision as we are. The decision has to come from Mr. BigWig and he is not cooperating. So.

Hmmm.... what else have I not posted about lately? A fun swimming party on the river, a discouraging situation with our new church building, Joshua's first lost tooth, Samantha's hair cut shorty short, many late night dates with Harry Potter (while sitting next to my sleeping baby because God forbid she should have to sleep alone), and a scary shopping cart mishap which could have been really, really bad but wasn't, only by the grace of God. Throw in all of the anniversaries, weddings, playdates, and birthday parties and you've got one exciting family story to tell! If I can stay awake long enough- or if my baby can stay asleep long enough. ;)

Have a good one everybody!

Gosh, I hope he gets the job! I have had the same blogging problem lately. Out of town a lot...

Okay, you just can't go and say things like that and leave us in suspense. Someday when you get caught up on your sleep I want to hear about the shopping cart thing.
Which HP book are you reading? The newest one?
Man, I need to get off my butt and blog something too. Seems like I always come up with these really cool blogs I make up in the shower, then the day goes by, and it goes poof out of my head. Yes, such is my life.
Glad to see all is going well in your neck of the woods.
love dawn
