Ack! It's Monday already! Where does the time go? Our weekend was busy, as usual. It was stifling hot until storms rolled in late Sunday. Church was so hot we all felt like passing out during the prayers! Needless to say, I broke down and turned our air conditioner on.
Today is still warm but much better on the humidity. The windows are open and a nice breeze is blowing. That will make things a bit easier to take out on the ballfield tonight. (only one more week! Yippee!)
Today was our first day back into the schoolwork routine. Lessons went well- I kept things very short and did mostly review. The kids were willing and actually a little excited about starting up again. Yay!
I am still fighting the ghosts of Jeremy's past- the ones in which he feels inadequate, incapable and not smart, due to his experience with ps kindergarten. I posted about it here and here. Today he was doing really well with his reading, which surprised me a little because we haven't worked on it a whole lot lately. I gave him a big hug and told him how smart he was. He smiled a sheepish smile and said, "No, I'm not." with a shrug. I gave him an even bigger hug and told him that he was absolutely, without a doubt a Very Smart Boy. I hope he starts believing it- it's painful to see my child think anything but the best about himself.
Remember the job interview Derick had recently ? The one he went and bought new clothes for? Apparently they were impressed by his sense of fashion because they want to interview him again. We are hoping they are bringing him back to make him an offer. Say some prayers around 10am tomorrow morning!
Have a good night!

Hope the interview goes great. How can you bear to do school in the summer?! What is it about boys and them not thinking they're smart? Where do you live that you're just turning on the a/c and your church doesn't have it on? We've had ours set on 75 since march! OHHHHHHH for a cooler climate...
Saying a prayer...
We've had a weird summer, some days it's over a hundred, then the past few days it's been only 80, the other day it was only 70 degrees. That like Never happens here! I'm gonna blame it on Al Gore. :-) Dang global warming!
We are actually starting school back up next week on the 18th, and going thru Aug 22, then taking two weeks off before starting our new school year right after Labor Day.
Keep fighting the fight with Jeremy. For every bad thought he has about himself, it has to be countered with tons of "atta boys" and such. I struggled so much with that with Rebecca, coming out of public school. He'll get it, I know he will, it may just take a long time.
keep up the good work, dear one. You're doing a great job, and the kids will thank you one day.
love and hugs

LOL Caroline!! Our church doesn't HAVE a/c! We do "Swedish air conditioning" which is paper plates attached to a popsicle stick and used to fan ourselves! :)
There is nothing special about living up here- it has been plenty hot this summer. I am just too stubborn to turn on the air! ;)
Dawn- thanks for the words of encouragement. I have to keep reminding myself that these things will take time to build. It won't happen overnight!
