Good news- sort of

Well we heard from the place-to-the-west today. They did offer Derick a job. Wahoo!

It was not quite the salary we were expecting, although it would be more than he is making now. If he were to get all the promised overtime, then it would be more than what we both are making now.

It would not put us in a position to have me at home with no worries, unless he gets the overtime. I don't like counting on overtime because it is never guaranteed.

So I think we will soon be navigating the sea of salary negotiations. Any tips? We have to give them our answer on Tuesday so we have lots of time to work it all out.

The only other factor to consider is the move. Do we really want to do that? That has to be the first decision we make, otherwise the salary is clearly irrelevant.

I am excited and scared at the same time!

Wow!!!! Congratulations to Derick! I agree with you on the exciting and scary. At least you guys have the weekend to hash over your options.

No ideas here about salary negotiation, but I'll bet there are some with that sort of knowledge on the WTM board. If it is as much as or almost as much as both of you are making together now, that would be pretty nice. Enough that you have no financial stress would certainly be even better, though!

Have you looked at housing near the new job? Will you need to sell your place before you can move? Might it be a do-able commute, at least for a while? Inquiring minds want to know!

I am so happy for you!

Oh, I'm so happy he finally got a job offer. Now begins more hard decisions it sounds like. I don't have any ideas on salary negotiations either (whew that's a hard word to spell). Seems like you guys have some long nights ahead of you discussing the pros and cons of such a move and what it would entail for your family. I will be praying for you guys.
Hugs!

No ideas for you about the salary thing. And it IS scary to move. But it has always worked out great for us. I'll pray that God would guide you in your decision.
