Whew. This is one week that has kept us hopping. I kept thinking September was going to be a quiet month but it sure hasn't started out that way!
Samantha has been "training" all week for her big 5k race tomorrow. We have to be there at the ungodly hour of 7:30am. Yikes. And here I sit, late night blogging! I am going to be tired in the morning. Good thing that gosh darn rooster starts his crowing at 5:30! ;)
I haven't really been able to find my groove this week. I feel a bit discombobulated, which is a word I say frequently but have never really tried to spell before. Let's just say that living in the country has its definite perks, but running into town every single day isn't one of them. Have I mentioned before that I am a homebody? I am content to just stay put. With the exception of the occasional trip to the bookstore, I would not need to go anywhere except out to the mailbox for a long, long time. Running into town every day, trying to kill an hour and then driving home has thrown off my rhythm. Not to mention that there are no groceries in the house.
Tomorrow, after the race, we will be watching the parade and then hanging out at the carnival. Those rickety old rides scare me but Samantha has made her dad promise to take her on the ferris wheel. I will just close my eyes and pretend they are still on the ground. I suppose the boys will want to ride something old and scary too. Maybe I can convince them to throw a couple of darts at some balloons instead. Or maybe, to distract me from the dangers of the traveling carnival, I could just eat some mini-donuts. Yeah, I think that's what I'll do. ;)

Enjoy those doughnuts! I used to have a "no rides that scare Mommy" rule, but now that T. has gotten older, I have had to relax it. And having him on high up, whirling, dropping rides does Not relax me. I'd definitely encourage them to spend All their money on dart throwing.
Carnivals are S.C.A.R.Y. We just had a man die on the Scrambler 2, maybe 3 years ago at one in a neighboring town. We were supposed to meet my mother-in-law and niece there, and she called me on my way and said don't come. That ride is one of the ones I always considered harmless. I haven't been to a carnival sonce- I do miss the fried dough though. ;)
